Joanne Borgella passed away Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the age of 32. Ms. Borgella had been battling a rare form of cancer that progressed to several areas of her body and eventually became her cause of death. Joanne had chronicled her illness on her Facebook page from the beginning and openly discussed her medical condition with her friends and loyal fans. She also shared how this ordeal affected her parents, friends and others close to her. She handled her illness with dignity and grace and always kept a positive outlook.

Joanne’s first big career break came when she won Mo’Nique’s Fat Chance pageant in 2005.   In 2008 she was a contestant on American Idol season seven and finished in the top 24. In 2011 Joanne was a coach on MTV’s reality show Made.

In 2013 Joanne joined the cast of Curvy Girls, the hit show on NUVOtv which featured 5 models and exposed the inside workings of each of their experiences in the modeling world and how it affected their professional careers and personal lives as well.

Joanne Borgella was represented by Wilhelmina models and was very well liked in the industry. She was also very popular here on Plus Models Today and had the second most viewed picture of all. Joanne Borgella was a courageous woman and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and fans worldwide.
