Christina Mendez, the beautiful and curvy top plus size model, is set to walk in the Adrian Alicea Haute Couture Fashion Show during the Fall / Winter 2014 season of New York Fashion Week, February 12th, 2013 at Landmark on the Park. In a press release Christina was quoted as saying “ I am truly honored Adrian Alicea selected me to represent “Couture Curves”. With Adrian integrating a plus model alongside straight-sized models, he’s showcasing the beauty of fashion for everyone during New York Fashion Week….where opportunities for plus models to walk the runway are slim-to-none in the fashion capital of the world even with targeted fashion weeks.”
In PlusModelsToday.com’s opinion, this is exactly the how fashion and modeling should be – inclusive rather than divisive. It’s not that hard.

With several similar names and events occurring in similar time frames, The London Plus Size Fashion Weekend’s name has been changed according to information posted at it’s website. It’s new name is The British Plus Size Fashion Weekend.
The British Plus Size Fashion Weekend is slated to run February 15-16, 2013, while London Fashion Week is scheduled for February 15-19, 2013.
Season One of Curvy Girls
Curvy Girls is a reality TV show about four plus size models as they encounter various obstacles and challenges while striving to make it as models in a very competitive yet rewarding industry. The show features Ivory May Kalber, Lornalitz Baez, Denise Bidot and Rosie Mercado. The world premier is Tuesday 9/18/2012 at 9pm eastern time on NuvoTV.

Top plus size model Christina Mendez to host the Curvy Revolution Spring Fling, Saturday April 7, 2012 in Detroit, Michigan.
The Curvy Revolution Spring Fling, is one of a series nation wide events which concludes with the Curvy Revolution Convention. The Curvy Revolution is a Body Acceptance Movement created in 2008 by self-acceptance advocate and award winning producer KeKe Dillard.
The show will include fashions from BarePLUS by Bare Necessities, the Barbavian Collection, the Criselle Collection, Forever 21 Plus, Frederick’s of Hollywood and more. There will be a live plus size band and on stage give-aways.
The doors open 7 p.m. Saturday, Flat 151, 151 W. Congress, Detroit, 313-963-1400. The fashion show starts at 8 p.m. Check neptix.com for tickets or call for more info.
Currently, the tour occurs every two years and this year is scheduled for Houston, Chicago, Atlanta, New York, DC, Miami, and Toronto with dates and times TBA.

Curvy Kate, the D cup plus specialists are taking their annual Star in a Bra competition to America. The competition begins April 5, 2012 and will search the country for a naturally curvy woman who will become the face and body of the brand.
The Star in a Bra search will be run through the brand’s new USA Facebook page and encourages fans to submit their favorite lingerie shots to win an international modeling contract and a year’s worth of Curvy Kate Lingerie. They will also be flown to the UK to take part in the brand’s latest marketing campaign with fellow UK and Australian winners.
The competition strives to celebrate healthy curves, a positive body image and diversity. Curvy Kate Marketing Manager, Hannah Houston, stated, “We truly believe that our customers should model our lingerie as these are the girls who will be buying it. Our model search isn’t just a one off – it’s here to stay to prove how gorgeous the shapely figure looks in lingerie – wobbles, bumps and all. If you can wear Curvy Kate lingerie – you’re in.”
“We have found a great mix of models since our launch in 2009. From E to J cups and from size 10 to 18 girls – each and every one brings their own personality to our brand and we’re really looking forward to meeting the US winner.”
After 5 successful competitions in the UK and Australia, by the award-winning, Curvy Kate, women in America now have their opportunity to compete for some fabulous prizes and recognition. The much anticipated NJ-FFFW begins Friday, March 30 and runs through Sunday, April 1, 2012 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. There is still time to get in on the fun, excitement, and networking opportunities.
Toccara Jones will be featured in the program, as will Christina Mendez, a special guest model. The three day event will includes hosts and celebrities from the fashion, film, TV, and music industries, including top full figured retailers and designers.

Full Figured Fashion Week™ is looking for experienced runway models for it’s New York City shows & events during the month of June 2012. The deadline to submit is Friday, February 24, 2012.

The much anticipated New York Fashion Week runs from September 8-15, showing the Spring 2012 Collections at Lincoln Center, NYC.
Designer Zac Posen returns to New York where he sent a “not as plus size as she used to be”, Crystal Renn down the runway for his Z Spoke line on September 11, 2010. This year his show is slated for Sunday, September 11, 2011.
This year, there will be a lot of live streams to check out so it should be more entertaining for those who can’t attend in person.
