Toccara Jones strikes one the BET Awards at the Shrine Auditorium on June 26, 2011 in Los Angeles, California. Ms. Jones was recently named Essence Magazine’s Contributing Style Editor. The former America’s Next Top Model beauty is also preparing for Donald Trump presents the Ultimate Merger which will air on TV One this fall.

Brazilian model Fluvia Lacerda accepted the Full Figure Fashion Week Award for Best Plus Commercial Print Model of the Year Saturday June 18th,  2011 at the Full Figured Fashion Week Awards at The Marriott Marquis Hotel, New York City.

Fluvia is a triple threat in that she has face, curves, and she knows how to model. However, the biggest thing we feel she has going for her is her confidence.  She is strongly grounded in who she is and it shows in all her photographs.

Featured on the cover of Vogue Italia’s June 2011 edition are Plus-size models Tara Lynn, Candice Huffine and Robyn Lawley.  The cover story by Steven Meisel also includes Marquita Pring.  Beside bringing first class journalism and entertainment, Vogue Italia is clearly committed to advancing the cause of plus size models and diversity with their Vogue Curvy and Vogue Black web presence.

However, this is nothing new to Vogue Italia.

Sophie Dahl covered the February 2000 issue which help thrust the cause of plus size models forward by demonstrating their beauty and marketability.

As we see, that effort continues today, even stronger.

Jennie Runk is a former “straight size” model who now works in the “plus size” category.  Jennie was featured in the November 2009 issue of Glamour
Magazine including a nude group shot with Lizzie Miller, Crystal Renn, Amy Lemons, Ashley Graham, Kate Dillon, and Anansa Sims.
